Greenleaf Remade
Once described as “Nothing but a hallway,” this modest midcentury bungalow was bursting at the seams from the demands of a family of five. Sparing the two things they loved—the ‘Great Room’ at the front of the house and the architectural character—the building was remade into a multi-generational home by providing a fully accessible In-Law suite on the first floor. The total living space was increased with a partial second story was added, featuring a primary bedroom, ensuite bath, dressing room, guest room and dedicated office. The mass of the second story was pushed to the back of the house and a new covered porch was added to the front to further downplay its new height.
