conference room
As part of the renovation of 808 North Dearborn, STL Architects adapted the bulk of the first floor to be the conference room. Since the space would serve many roles from client meetings, to a workspace for design teams, the space needed to reflect the minimal design aesthetic of the firm and be highly functional. The white volume was inflected by three design elements: full height pivot doors to close off the space from the entry / waiting area; a storage niche for a projector, conference phone and drafting supplies; tack strips for hanging presentation materials. The strips were laid out to correspond to the firms’ standard paper sizes. ‘Through wall’ glass planks were inserted at the end of each strip to allow a glimpse from the adjacent hall into the conference room when the doors are closed.
