shorty's book swap
A local children's resale shop was looking to expand its library and enrich the reading hour experience. The book swap was defined by a mural painted by a local artist, a small shelving unit and a collection of chairs scattered in the back of the store.
A blue fuzzy cube was introduced to create both a physical destination and a portal to worlds beyond. When not in use, stools hang from the wall and occupy the stage. The same type of stools are used to structure the library shelving. A brightly painted 'reading runway' extends from the cube towards the front of the store terminating in an illuminated sign, visible from the sidewalk.
